LEGOLAND® CALIFORNIA To Set the Guinness World Record for World's Tallest LEGO® Tower

Help LEGOLAND® California break the Guinness World Record for the tallest LEGO® tower in the world President's Day weekend 2005.

Thousands of children along with their families will click together more than half-a-million LEGO® bricks at LEGOLAND® California February 17-21, 2005, to break the Guinness World Record for the tallest LEGO tower ever built! Park guests will be able to participate in this record-breaking event by constructing their own piece of the tower beginning Thursday, February 17 when the Park opens at 10 a.m.

Park officials estimate the tower will take four days, 40 hours, nearly 50,000 guests and more than 500,000 LEGO bricks to complete! The current Guinness World Record for the tallest LEGO tower was set in Tallinn, Estonia in August 1998 reaching a height of 82 feet. The tower took four days to build and 391,478 LEGO bricks. LEGOLAND California's record-breaking attempt will soar over the theme park's main entrance and will be built entirely of LEGO bricks. The construction of the tower begins everyday during Presidents Day weekend at 10 a.m. when the Park opens and ends when the Park closes at 5 p.m. Witness the closing ceremony on Presidents Day, February 21 at 10:30 a.m. when the final bricks are positioned and the tower is measured and certified by an official from the Guinness Book of World Records.

If your trip to Southern California doesn't coincide with the Tower Building event, you'll still want to visit Legoland because there are so many exciting and fun attractions for your entire family. 2004 marked the fifth birthday of LEGOLAND™ California, and the theme park commemorated the momentous occasion by opening five new attractions where fun, facts, and fantasy click all at once.

The openings began in February with the premiere of Block of Fame, a tree-lined walkway of LEGO celebrity and historical busts, along with a three-dimensional art gallery. Dino Island, featuring Coastersaurus, a junior roller coaster, opened in April, followed in May by Fun Town Fire Academy, an interactive firefighter racing ride. In June, Miniland USA was expanded to include Miniland Florida.

In the classic LEGOLAND style of blending education and entertainment, all the new attractions combine history, classic art, paleontology, fire safety, and geography with interactive fun. Geared towards families with youngsters ages two through 12, the new attractions feature something for everyone in the family. If you plan to return to Southern California during Memorial Day Weekend 2005, put Legoland on your list of places to visit. The park will introduce a signature attraction sworn to challenge guests as they embark on this one-of-a-kind adventure! Young and old, brace yourselves, as you take an unpredictable journey through Knights' Kingdom. LEGOLAND is the only theme park where kids are the ones who make things happen. Designed for families with children 2 to 12, guests can drive, pedal, squirt, climb, jump, slide, click, build and laugh their way through more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. Kids 3 - 12 and seniors 60+ $37.95; adults $44.95. General parking is $8.00. For more information, call 760.918.LEGO or www.LEGOLAND.com.
